Mama Llama

The other day, my 14 year old daughter, McKenna and I drove by a small farm with a llama and a sheep in a pen. As we drove down the road, she shared with me the unique relationship between the two animals. Farmers keep them together because the llama naturally protects the sheep from preditors. The sheep is naturally innocent and vulnerable to the outside dangers around them and needs the llama for safety.
Wow!! I was quite impressed with this information. What an amazing, beneficial situation!! One of my other kids asked, "What does the Llama get out of the deal?" And I said, "A friend!" :) Then we realized that one of my nicknames from the kids and their Daddy is, Mama Llama! How exciting!! I am their Llama and my children are my sheep! "My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words...for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body" (Pro. 4:20, 22). The Lord has picked me to be one of their chosen protectors from the predators of the outside and (sometimes) the inside world!! From people, to movies, commercials, music, billboards, etc... It's my job to help filter the pollutants around us and to teach them to do the same thing. I can not be afraid to say no to them or re-direct our way. "Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom." (SS 2:15)
So. I have come to love the name Mama Llama even more than I ever did!! I have a God-given role to fulfill and He has equipped me for that very calling!! What Joy! :)
