Poem: Home is Where the HOME Is

Home is Where the HOME Is
(by Emanda Rosen: I wrote this at about 5 in the morning. I tried to go back to sleep after nursing the baby and these thoughts would not leave me. So I got up, obeyed the Lord and wrote. I tweaked it a little through out the day but it is mostly all original to the first draft :) God is so good!! 3/2/08)

Oh! What a tangled web we weave
When we practice to believe;
The picture of the "Superwoman"
To have it all and take dominion.

It all began when Eve ate the apple
With this sin she did dabble;
Thinking she was "helping" out
Her husband overlooked his clout.

They went outside their God-given role
Creating a problem within the soul;
A man and woman head to head
That's the issue we've come to dread.

In our generation we haven't been taught
That God made a plan that must be sought;
A wife to support her "husband's vision"
That is her life's greatest mission.

To see your appointment as a curse
Only makes our culture worse;
That "Superwoman" is contrived
She doesn't exist, Satan lied!!

Homes are in a land of chaos
No one is there to be it's boss;
Children
babysat by a "Glowing Screen"
No Bible teaching to be seen.

We've all got so many urgent things to do
This thing and that thing are on the list too;
"My agenda is important," as you will see
"I have gifts and talents too, just look at me."

But what about Deuteronomy's critical lease
"Parent's, teach your children everywhere please;
All the things the Bible commands
On these truths forever stand!"

Sadly, Mama was raised with other ambitions
Though her heart has good intentions;
The world declares, "Your family will understand
Because your abilities are so grand."

These are the promises that won't deliver
Your families faith is but a sliver;
Your heart, it aches for something more
The answers at home inside the door.

Wait just a minute, I was there once too
Causing trouble without a clue;
"Disobey the LORD?" I wouldn't dare
Or so I thought, is what I'd share.

Listen my friend, may I have your ear
God's way is perfect, no need for fear;
We hold the world within our care
With each act of love we choose to share.

As a loving, submissive Mother and Wife
My heart is no longer full of strife;
Promoting my man so he can be
A Mighty Man of God to see.

Die to live, is what Jesus teaches
So many hearts His great plan reaches;
When a Mother invests her home
No one will EVER be Alone.

Dancing, singing, hugs and kisses
Blessed payment for the Mrs.;
All you do is full of purpose
Holy training in surplus.

Over and over you do the same thing
Planting seeds for a harvest you bring;
The fruit one day you will see
Faithful generations to God Almighty.

Do not grow weary well-doing one
You lay down your life for the Son;
Just as He brought life through death
Your acts of love are His very breath.

Get to Know Me

My husband Scott and I have been married for 16 1/2 years and we are still in love :) He is a pastor and part time comedian (just kidding :) He could be though! He is an amazing husband and an outstanding father. He owns whatever he does...and works at making it the best he can. PTL!! I've learned so much from him.
I am 9 months pregnant, expecting our 7th child anytime. :) We have 3 girls and 3 boys and our new one is a sweet, little girl. Crazily, we have had our children in order, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, now girl!! We think it's a lot of fun!
We homeschool them all and feel it is our God given responsibility to do so. My husband and I realized years ago, that if we were going to be held accountable by God for whomever and whatever we exposed our kids to educationally, etc.., we had better do it ourselves, as much as possible. That is just one of many reasons why we teach at home :) Another reason is that we really LIKE our kids and enjoy being with them. We truly receive so much more joy and blessing than we give to them. God is good!! :)

Mama Llama

The other day, my 14 year old daughter, McKenna and I drove by a small farm with a llama and a sheep in a pen. As we drove down the road, she shared with me the unique relationship between the two animals. Farmers keep them together because the llama naturally protects the sheep from preditors. The sheep is naturally innocent and vulnerable to the outside dangers around them and needs the llama for safety.
Wow!! I was quite impressed with this information. What an amazing, beneficial situation!! One of my other kids asked, "What does the Llama get out of the deal?" And I said, "A friend!" :) Then we realized that one of my nicknames from the kids and their Daddy is, Mama Llama! How exciting!! I am their Llama and my children are my sheep! "My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words...for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body" (Pro. 4:20, 22). The Lord has picked me to be one of their chosen protectors from the predators of the outside and (sometimes) the inside world!! From people, to movies, commercials, music, billboards, etc... It's my job to help filter the pollutants around us and to teach them to do the same thing. I can not be afraid to say no to them or re-direct our way. "Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom." (SS 2:15)
So. I have come to love the name Mama Llama even more than I ever did!! I have a God-given role to fulfill and He has equipped me for that very calling!! What Joy! :)
